The article analyses dialect words, functioning in Ivan Franko’s stories. An attempt to distinguish lexical-semantic groups of dialect vocabulary in literary discourse as well as to define the semantics of dialect lexemes and their connotative meanings in contextual realization has been made. The analysis of their lexical semantic features will enable to trace the measure of preservation of dialect words and their penetration into the literary language.
