LEXICAL COMPETENCE AS A COGNITIVE BASIS FOR THE FORMATION OF COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE OF LINGUISTIC PERSONALITY OF STUDENTS

Abstract

The article is devoted to the issues of the formation of lexical competence as a linguistic basis - communicative competence of the linguistic personality of students. The cognitive approach used by students in mastering lexical units of the Ukrainian language is revealed. The main concepts related to the lexical side of teaching the Ukrainian language in a professional direction are revealed, attention is paid to the lexical component as the most important component of expressive and receptive types of linguistic activity, the stages of the formation of lexical competence are presented as necessary stages of its development.The work emphasizes that lexical competence is the cognitive basis of the communicative competence of the linguistic personality of students, since it encompasses knowledge of words, their meanings, features of use in different contexts and the ability to adequately use vocabulary in the process of communication.Therefore, the author in the article considers them as a dynamic unity: lexical competence is formed in the process of communicative activity of students, and communicative competence is improved due to the formation of lexical competence, i.e. their formation is mutually conditioned.Svitlana Romanchuk analyzes the semantic differentiation between the terms “linguistic competence”, “lexical competence”, “communicative competence”. The article reveals the role of lexical skills in the context of the formation of professional lexical competence.The article emphasizes the definition of the concept of “terminological vocabulary”, since it covers the mandatory arsenal of students’ mastery of special concepts of their future profession.The conclusions reveal the role of lexical competence for the language training of students and suggest ways to form lexical competence in them.
