THE NATIONALLY-MARKED VOCABULARY AS THE DOMINANT OF L. PROTS’ LINGUISTIC STYLE (ON MATERIAL OF POETIC COLLECTION «HUNTING FOR THE LIGHT»)

The article analyzes the nationally-marked vocabulary of L. Prots’ poetry collection «Hunting for the Light». The nationally-marked vocabulary forms a relatively small layer in the vocabulary of the modern Ukrainian language. It is distinguished by a national cultural or ethic component, combining stereotypical folk notions and individually author’s world perceptions.
The purpose of the study is to analyze L. Prots’ individual vocabulary by singling out such linguistic units which form its national color and create unique canvas of the poetic discourse. It involves solving the following tasks: find out the meaning of the concept «marked vocabulary»; classify the nationally-marked vocabulary and highlight its semantics; simulate the cultural and linguistic space of an appropriate epoch through the study of the vocabulary with the national components.
The main subject – thematic groups of the marked vocabulary are singled out and its semantics is highlighted. It is proved that the concepts of Ukrainian culture, which do not coincide in a foreign environment, are reflected in the semantics of the linguistics units.
An important ideological and conceptual function is played by the linguistic units that are characterized by national associations, word symbols and idiomatic nature.
The nationally-marked words have been found to be an integral part of L. Prots’ linguistic style. They do not only provide the aesthetic exquisite expression but are also at the cognitive level.
We believe that such vocabulary is a means of enrichment of the vocabulary of the modern Ukrainian language and the creation of a national language picture, as well. In the future we are planning to analyze the nationally-marked units based on some other author’s poetic collections.
