IMAGES-SYMBOLS IN IVAN FRANKO’S TEXT

The article focuses its scope on linguocognitological ideas of Ivan Franko which formed the base for the Ukainian linguopolitology (political linguistics) in particular. The research has revealed words-symbols in the founder’s artistic picture of the world and the national school of political thinking. Since they serve to be specific “nation codes”, means of linguocultural identification of people as well as idiostyle of the writer which enabled to fulfill the objective of the study – on the basis of Franko’s images-symbols the idea-spiritual connection between Kameniar and modern kameniars that is Ukrainian intelligence as well as the pragmatic halo of images-symbols are outlined. The task is to understand the mechanisms of creating figurative and symbolic meaning, the pragmatic filling of the image-idea; in a comparative aspect to analyze the meaning of the words-symbols in the poetry of Ivan Franko, Oles Babiy, political texts of the Ukrainian Military Organization (UVO); on the basis of the cognitive-discourse approach, to single out the nodal concept of the Ukrainian political world-making in the interwar period. The article highlights Ivan Franko’s national and stateforming visions. As a scholar-linguopolitologist, the thinker observed critically the discourse of politicians while nurturing mature language personality of a new passionner type. The very Franko’s imagessymbols the whole man, Moises, Eternal Revolutioner, Kameniars, conquistadors were bringing up nationally conscious Ukrainian people. As a mature holder of the national idea – the Ukrainian Independent United State, the modern generation of the Ukrainian youth sparked the national and liberation movement.
