ENGLISH-LANGUAGE COMPUTER VOCABULARY IN A PROFESSIONAL FRENCH-SPEAKING COMPUTER DISCOURSE STRUCTURE

Abstract

The article deals with the specifics of the functioning of the anglicisms in French-speaking professional computer discourse in terms of the thematic approach to the phenomenon of computer discourse. The materials of the research are based on scientific and popular articles of computer topics published on French-speaking Internet sites. It has been found that anglicisms in the structure of the articles discussed in addition to the function of the nomination may also perform various expressive-evaluation functions. This is due to the fact that informing readers about the newcomers of computer technology and technology here often combines with an analytical review already available in the market of products, supplemented by author’s recommendations. The authors state that in addition to the nomination of professional concepts English-language borrowings are actively used for expressive purposes, are included in the implementation of a number of author’s intention: to attract the attention of the reader, to increase the information richness of the context, emphasize the quality characteristics of the product and transfer the author’s attitude to the described product, actualize the associative communication of the presented product with English-language culture. This article deals with the functional aspect of the English-language computer vocabulary in the structure of professional French-speaking computer discourse. In the context of a modern anthropocentric paradigm of linguistic research, interests are raised by issues related to the role of anglicisms in improving the efficiency of professional communication in the implementation of author’s intention, in increasing the semantic capacity and compression of the text. The authors emphasize that, despite the fact that the anglicisms in French have already been subjected to a linguistic description, but it is important to continue their study on fresh material to obtain an objective assessment of their role and dynamics of functioning in this language, taking into account the specifics of different functional-style texts.
