EXPRESSIVE-STYLISTIC POSSIBILITIES OF GRAMMATICAL MEANS IN THE TEXTS OF MODERN POLISH SERMONS

Abstract

The article analyzes the expressive-stylistic potential of grammatical means used in the texts of contemporary Polish sermons. It is emphasized that expressiveness is the dominant stylistic feature of oratory speeches across all genre varieties. The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that expressiveness is one of the most complex linguistic categories, as it is associated with the manifestation of the subjective aspect in language, which accompanies the cognition of objective reality and reflects the content of the individual consciousness of language speakers.The aim of the article is to identify the expressive-stylistic potential of grammatical means in contemporary Polish sermons, to determine their role in shaping the preacher’s communicative strategy, and to analyze their impact on the audience.The methodological framework of the study includes a comprehensive analysis of contemporary Polish sermons using several scientific approaches, which allowed for identifying the expressive- stylistic potential of grammatical means in these texts. Stylistic analysis was applied to identify linguistic means that influence the expressiveness of the text. Content analysis was used to systematize grammatical means in sermons. The cognitive-discursive approach enabled an assessment of how grammatical means contribute to the formation of homiletic communication.The scientific novelty of the study lies in the systematic analysis of grammatical means that perform an expressive-stylistic function in contemporary Polish sermons. It has been established that the majority of emotionally expressive effects are represented at the syntactic level. It has also been determined that artistic means, particularly tropes and rhetorical figures, contribute to the emotionality and expressiveness of contemporary Polish sermons.Grammatical means in contemporary Polish sermons play a crucial role in creating an expressive effect. They help enhance communicative interaction between the preacher and the believers, making the text more emotionally charged and persuasive.
