FORMING OF GENERAL AND FOREIGN LANGUAGE COMPETENCES AMONG STUDENTS OF TOURISM SPECIALIZATION IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES

The article considers the issues of forming foreign language general and foreign languages competences of language learners in the conditions of professional intercultural speech activity of future specialists in the field of tourism and the hotel industry. This article aims to analyze the role of foreign languages in the education of students in tourism and suggests possible ways to solve current problems related to the language skills of future workers in the tourism industry. The article is devoted to the analysis of various approaches to defining the concept of foreign language professional competence, proposed by various national and foreign scholars and offers ways to form it in the process of teaching a foreign language to future tourism specialists in the course of language training. The authors of the article characterize five categories of competencies that ensure high-quality language training of students: general, intercultural, linguistic, communicative and discursive (speech) competence.. It is demonstrated that the result of forming of professional foreign language communicative competence is the ability of a specialist to skillful, effective and appropriate use of knowledge of a foreign language in the process of communication in the field of tourism. It is determined that foreign language professional communicative competence consists of the following interrelated components: linguistic-professional, which covers all the means and elements of language and speech that an education seeker must know to communicate, that is, this is the language that the specialist will use in future professional communication; sociocultural, which involves the ability of students to use the language correctly, appropriately and skillfully in the relevant professional situation. It contributes to better understanding and expression by a specialist.Communicative competence involves mastering all types of language activity and the basics of oral and written speech culture, which are based on a socio-cultural knowledge base. The article emphasizes the importance of integrating language training with the professional needs of students, making learning more motivating and effective.
