THE ROLE OF PRACTICAL STYLISTICS IN THE EDUCATION OF THE SENSE OF LANGUAGE CULTURE

Abstract

Summary. The article describes the specifics of modern stylistics as a linguistic field that requires going beyond linguistics, as certain stylistic phenomena cannot be explained without using the conceptual apparatus of rhetoric, speech culture, deviology, psychology, etc. The relevance of the publication is motivated by the need to focus on the role of practical stylistics in the formation of speech skills required for a modern person. The purpose of the publication is to define the role of practical stylistics in the formation of stylistic culture of speech as part of the general culture of the individual, which involves active language proficiency and adherence to cultural and linguistic norms, the ability to select and combine language means that are appropriate to the situation of communication, demonstration of communicative qualities of speech that are optimal for a particular communication situation, and finally, the development of a socially active personality who can feel confident in the modern world. It has been emphasised that practical stylistics is closely related to the speech culture. It has been determined that proficiency in the stylistic culture of speech ensures its normativity, the ability to express one’s thoughts and feelings freely in oral and written forms in compliance with ethical and etiquette norms of communication. It has been proved that practical stylistics plays an important role in mastering the stylistic culture of speech, since this branch of linguistic stylistics is focused on the formation of stylistic skills and abilities necessary for every speaker to improve the level of stylistic and speech culture. It has been determined the specifics of stylistic and stylistic norms in comparison with other language norms; it has been presented a typology of stylistic errors. The author concludes that the practical significance of stylistics lies in the enhancement of the society’s speech culture, development of linguistic sense, aesthetic taste of speakers, overcoming linguistic uniformity, expanding the arsenal of means of expression, and preventing profanity.
