POSSESSIVE GEOGRAPHICAL NAMES ENDING IN *-OVЪ/*-EVЪ OF THE LEFT BANK IN XVIII CENTURY

The purpose of the article is to analyze the oyconyms ending in *-ovъ/*-evъ of the Left Bank in XVIII century.
In fact, for the first time, the creative stems of these oyconyms have been analyzed on the basis of extensive systematic empirical material, and the configuration of the areal of a certain historical period on the territory of the Left Bank was reconstructed.
Represented anthroponymycon, separated from geographical names, confirms that this historical territory, by ethnic composition, is uniquely Ukrainian, since the repertoire of proper names of people corresponds in general to the anthroponymycon of Ukraine; they have represented ancient Slavic composite and decomposite anthro-ponyms. The author found out a lot of new composites which were characteristic of the Hetmanate period; deappellative proper names of people prevail, identifying a large group of canonical names, which via suffixation adapted to the Ukrainian proper names. Only about 12% of proto-surnames could not be identified in the written sources available to us, but these proper names somehow correspond to the all-Ukrainian tendencies and structural types of this class of onyms.
In the oyconymy ending in *-ovъ/*-evъ of the Left Bank typical names of this model, which were substantivated, prevail. There are only circa 7% registered com-posite names, in which this process in the period of XVIII century has not yet taken place. They have much in common with microtoponymy, in particular used descriptive constructions with specification, genetivus possessivus, additional distinguishing of the same onyms by anthroponyms ending in *-ovъ/*-evъ, already existing proper names are specified by onyms of the investigated type.
Coordinates of the areal of oyconyms ending in *-ovъ/*-evъ within the Left Bank of a historical period of the ХVIIІ century are characterized by the fact that these geographical names are concentrated around large centers.
The prospect of the article is: 1) to investigate different historical regions of Ukraine according to this scheme; 2) to examine other types of oyconyms on the territory of the Left Bank (Hetmanate period); 3) to analyze geographical names (and its creative stems) of these territories of every historical period, which would make it possible to outline the repertoire of proper names of people.
