In this article a special status of phraseological nomination in the English term system of economic sphere of activity is considered. Basing on the generalized theoretical experience of this idea the problem of reinterpretation during the process of verbalizing professional objects and knowledge appears to be the most vital. The purpose of this article is to analyze transformations of phraseological units into terms and their further functioning in the English term system of economic sphere of activity. It should be stressed that determination of strict criteria to differentiate functioning of phraseological units and phraseological terms is a question of paramount importance. To illustrate such a kind of differentiation some examples of phraseological units and phraseological terms having the same component in their structures are given. Special attention is paid to the communicative and creative potential of phraseological units functioning in economic sphere. Besides the nominative function they do pragmatic tasks, transfer cultural values and require cultural competence from all participants of communication. It is noted that a special status of phraseological units in the English term system of economic sphere of activity lies in the linguistic nature of these second nomination language signs itself. It is emphasized that metaphoric and metonymic reinterpretation during the process of verbalizing professional objects is wide-spread in the English economic term system. In conclusion, it should be underlined that this research has resulted in having found interference of economic term system and phraseology of the English language. It cannot but be mentioned that regularity of processes of terminalization of phraseological units, determinalization of their certain components, phraseologization of terms and dephraseologization of phraseological units is obvious. The research has led to awareness of paradoxical language ability to nominate abstract things and concepts of professional character by images as being a decisive factor to determine a special status of phraseological nomination in the English term system of economic sphere of activity.
